Leszczynski: Ramazzini study shows that cell tower radiation does not increase risk for Schwannoma and glioma

Dariusz Leszczynski’s analysis draws a different conclusion on the Ramazzini study. It is sure to draw many comments on his blog: Between a Rock and a Hard Place. Keep an eye out for the discussion! Briefly, according to DL the Ramazzini findings are just a random noise and none of it is due to RF effects. This raises an interesting question over differing interpretations over the same scientific data.

Lennart Hardell on the latest UK brain tumour paper (last message)

Increasing incidence of aggressive brain tumour (glioblastoma multiforme) in England during 1995-2015
    Excerpt

A recent article describes increasing incidence of the most malignant type of brain tumor, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in England during 1995-2015. The number of patients increased from 2.4 to 5.0 per 100,000 during that time period. In total the yearly increase was from 983 to 2,531 patients, thus a substantial number. The incidence of low-grade glioma decreased but was stabilized from 2004, see figure 2. Thus the increasing incidence cannot be explained by low-grade glioma transforming to high-grade (GBM). The authors conclude that a general environmental factor must be the cause. SNIP Our results are similar to those now published from England. All results are in agreement with wireless phones (mobile phones and cordless phones) causing glioma.

Fatal Brain Tumors on the Rise in England

    From Louis Slesin, Microwave News

Fatal Brain Tumors on the Rise in England
Rate of GBM More than Doubled Between 1995 and 2015

    Excerpt

The incidence of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the deadliest type of brain tumor, more than doubled in England between 1995 and 2015, according to a new analysis of national statistics. During that time, the number of cases of GBM rose from 983 to 2,531.

“We found a sustained and highly significant increase in GBM throughout the 21 years and across all ages,” said Alasdair Philips, the lead author of the study, which has just been released online by the peer-reviewed, open access, Journal of Environmental and Public Health.

“The incidence rate of GBM, the most aggressive and quickly fatal brain tumor, is rising dramatically in England while the rates for lower grade tumors have decreased, masking this dramatic trend in the overall data,” Philips told us from his home in southern Scotland…SNIP

New Zealand Ministry wrong to think three 5G networks would be better

    By RICHARD MACMANUS

    Last updated 05:00, March 26 2018

    Excerpt:

OPINION The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment last week released a discussion document for 5G, the next generation cellular mobile technology.

Among the issues raised in the document is how 5G will be rolled out in New Zealand and what the societal impacts will be. In particular, there are health concerns about the increased number of cell towers – estimated to be double the current number – that will be required for a 5G network.

We saw a glimpse of what 5G hopes to deliver last week, when the first “live trial” was conducted by Spark.

Communications Minister Clare Curran was the first to test it. She got a download speed of 9.3 gigabits per second, which equates to 9300 megabits per second. That’s 46 times the maximum speed I can get on my current ultrafast broadband package at home, which clocks in at a measly 200 megabits per second.

What’s more, 5G could end up being twice as fast as the speed Curran got. The specifications for 5G technology, which are still being worked on internationally, aim to reach a peak data rate of 20Gbps. That would be a 20 times increase from the current 4G generation.

As well as being super fast, 5G will have much lower latency – which means no delays or freezes when streaming high bandwidth media like videos and games.

5G is being marketed as the required infrastructure for next-generation technology. The MBIE paper highlights “self-driving cars, increased use of robotics and industry automation, and massive machine type communications (the internet of things).”

But hold your horses; this 5G future won’t arrive in New Zealand until at least 2020. Plus, there are a couple of contentious issues that must be addressed before 5G is approved….SNIP

Leszczynski: Brief Opinion on the NTP Rat Study – “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.”

    Excerpt:

Publication of the full results of the NTP study, yet again, re-confirms what Aristotle said “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know”. No matter how disappointed some might be, this is the reality of the scientific research.

The study is a classic toxicology. Namely: rats were long-term exposed to various doses of cell phone radiation and their health was followed over the long period of time.

NTP study demonstrates that exposures to cell phone radiation cause biological and health effects in animals. This confirms that the biological and health effects in humans are possible. SNIP

Ramazzini’s Belpoggi Calls for IARC To Reassess RF Cancer Risk

Partial results of the Ramazzini Institute’s RF–animal study, which show a statistically significant increase in tumors in the hearts of male rats exposed to GSM radiation, were officially released today. They appear in Environmental Research, a peer-reviewed journal. As we reported last month, the Ramazzini finding of Schwann cell tumors –called schwannomas– in the rat hearts is consistent with a similar finding by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) in a $25 million RF project. Scientific Bullshit – How ‘Science’ Is Used To Deceive The Public

Did you know that there was a shocking study published in the Public Library of Science Journal, that found“up to 72%” of scientists admitted their colleagues were engaged in “questionable research practices,” and that just over 14% of them were engaged in outright “falsification”?… SNIP This becomes especially concerning when we consider how “science” seems to have replaced organized religion as the new authority that should blindly be obeyed in many ways. People speak of it as if it is infallible, and anyone who questions the high priests of science are generally attacked, degraded, and dismissed as modern day heretics. SNIP

The Mystery of “Sonic Health Attacks” on Havana-Based Diplomats may have been from high-power microwave radiation

The Mystery of “Sonic Health Attacks” on Havana-Based Diplomats

For the past few weeks, media outlets have been reporting on the US State Department’s disclosure that Havana- based US diplomats were experiencing health issues [1-5]. Their residences were described to have been targeted with bursts of sound waves….Wait a minute. There actually may be a scientific explanation. It is plausible that the loud buzzing, burst of sound, or acoustic pressure waves may have been covertly delivered using high-power microwave radiation, instead of blasting the subjects with conventional sonic sources. “More Than a Coincidence”
Major New Animal Study, Like NTP’s, Links RF to Schwannomas
    It’s happened again.

A second large study has found tumors in the Schwann cells –schwannomas– in the hearts of male rats exposed to cell phone radiation. The new finding comes from the Ramazzini Institute in Bologna, Italy. The malignant schwannomas of the heart seen in the Italian study are the same as those described by the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) earlier this month as the basis for their concern that cell phone radiation can lead to cancer. The Ramazzini paper is expected to be published within a week. SNIP

A psychological perspective on the Havana “Sonic attack”: Its all just a mass psychogenic illness (Psychology Today)

It’s perhaps inevitable that if you are a psychologist you would tend to be biassed towards considering the strange sonic occurrence at the US Embassy in Havana as a possible psychological problem, especially given that there is no explanation on what really happened. According to New Zealand sociologist and skeptic Robert Bartholomew, writing in Psychology Today (below), a likely explanation is a mass psychogenic illness (MPI). This is essentially mass hysteria or a mass nocebo effect which can tend to be diagnosed when a number of people exhibit strange behavior and those who are making the diagnosis do not know why. So, with no known reason why these 20 or so people in Havana have had these strange symptoms the psychologist’s viewpoint rides to the rescue – ‘Something is affecting these people and as there is no known cause for their affliction, it’s most likely a mass psychogenic illness!’

An all too convenient label to a dismiss any number of environmental health issues, not just whatever is happening in Havana.

“Sonic Weapon Attacks” on U.S. Embassy Don’t Add Up–for Anyone (Scientific American)

HAVANA–Heated charges have flown back and forth for months between the two countries that bracket the Strait of Florida. U.S. State Department officials contended Cuba staged a sonic attack on employees of the American embassy, causing a variety of neurological symptoms. Cuba has not only denied such an attack ever took place but has also emphasized the physical impossibility of a sound wave causing neurological damage trained on such a distant target.

But physicians and scientists from both countries now appear to be in agreement on one critical point: Both sides acknowledge they are baffled as to what happened to 24 embassy employees who were diagnosed with mild traumatic brain damage between November 2016 and August 2017. SNIP

BRIEF REPORT on the EHS provocation studies from Darius Leszczynski

Dariusz Leszczynski / Finland. Updated February 11, 2018

BRIEF REPORT on the EHS provocation studies prepared by Dariusz Leszczynski,
    Excerpt:
Part of the population considers themselves as sensitive to radiation emitted by the wireless communication devices and networks. Different studies have indicated that ca. 0.5–11% of the population might be experiencing sensitivity symptoms. This ailment, called either electromagnetic hyper-sensitivity (EHS) or idiopathic environmental intolerance attributed to electromagnetic fields (IEI-EMF), is currently not considered by the World Health Organization as being caused by the exposures to electromagnetic fields (EMF). While the symptoms experienced by some persons are acknowledged as health impairment, the cause of these symptoms is considered to be unknown. SNIP

5G and IoT: a Trojan horse

From André Fauteux, Editor/Publisher, La Maison du 21e siècle Magazine: The wireless industry dreams of deploying its new 5G (fifth generation) infrastructure in your neighbourhood soon, as it has begun doing in California. Boxes the size of a PC could be placed every 150 meters or so on utility poles, sometimes with small-refrigerator-sized boxes on the ground. 5G technology uses pulsed, millimeter-sized microwaves that are easily blocked by obstacles such as leaves, hence the need to install millions of cell signal boosters near homes.

The telecoms say this is the most efficient way to ease the digital congestion caused by audio-video streaming, whose global traffic, according to American giant Cisco, will be eleven times higher in 2018 than in 2014. Data would move through fibre optic cables, but rather than bringing these cables to your home, the last leg of the data’s journey would generally be wireless… As markets work, personal mobile phone subscriptions are more profitable than the higher speed fibre optic connections linked to desktops through your own router.

The 5G network would also support the huge increase in wireless communications to be created by the Internet of Things (IoT). Since most people already own a cell phone, industry wants to expand its market by embedding a cellular microchip into most manufactured goods. Therefore, items purchased in the future would generate data to be collected by companies and, ultimately, by governments. 5G-IoT is promoted by the promise of “smart” cities, leading to a more comfortable, convenient and efficient life. But besides a relentless expansion of sales, 5G-IoT will strengthen mobile phones as a platform for publicity and population control. Further, 5G-IoT deployment carries significant health risks… SNIP

New paper on 5G: Towards 5G communication systems: Are there health implications?

    Abstract

The spread of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) is rising and health effects are still under investigation. RF-EMF promote oxidative stress, a condition involved in cancer onset, in several acute and chronic diseases and in vascular homeostasis. Although some evidences are still controversial, the WHO IARC classified RF-EMF as “possible carcinogenic to humans”, and more recent studies suggested reproductive, metabolic and neurologic effects of RF-EMF, which are also able to alter bacterial antibiotic resistance. In this evolving scenario, although the biological effects of 5G communication systems are very scarcely investigated, an international action plan for the development of 5G networks has started, with a forthcoming increment in devices and density of small cells, and with the future use of millimeter waves (MMW). Preliminary observations showed that MMW increase skin temperature, alter gene expression, promote cellular proliferation and synthesis of proteins linked with oxidative stress, inflammatory and metabolic processes, could generate ocular damages, affect neuro-muscular dynamics…SNIP

AOCRP-5 and its Groundhog Day Approach to radiofrequency health science

The Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) is hosting the 5th Asian and Oceanic IRPA Regional Congress on Radiation Protection – AOCRP5- in Melbourne, Australia during 20 – 23 May 2018. Too bad the term “radiation protection” is a misnomer which really means defining “protection” strictly in accordance with ICNIRP’s time-worn orthodoxy. Dare I say a “Procrustean Approach” in which “protection” is limited to immediate and hazardous radiofrequency/microwave radiation of the intensity to cause thermal biological damage. The same old line endlessly repeated and somewhat reminiscent of the movie Groundhog Day where the same day just keeps on repeating itself over and over and over…..At least in the movie some things were slowly learned by the main character Phil Connors – but not so with the folks at ARPS, IRPA and ICNIRP…..

    What Changed at NTP?

    From Louis Slesin, Microwave News:
    What Changed at NTP?
Same RF Cancer Data, Different Outlook
    February 7, 2018
    Excerpt:

Why was the NTP so ambivalent about its cell phone cancer findings at the press conference last Friday when two years ago the same scientific evidence prompted a public health warning?

Some of the pathology numbers got tweaked since they were first released in 2016, but the changes were minor. It’s the same data set –but with a very different interpretation. The NTP mindset somehow shifted from we need to release this important new health data now to this is “not a high-risk situation.”

Who or what moved the NTP managers to change their outlook? There’s no shortage of suspects and suspicions. Here are a few making the rounds: SNIP
